The Diversional Therapy Association began in Sydney in 1976.
The Queensland Association officially with incorporation on October 12th 1986 and now has a membership of over 500.
In 1994 The Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council was established for the purpose of coordinating diversional therapy nationally.
