Diversional Therapists operate under a number of industrial awards and certified agreements, our representative union in Queensland is the Australian Workers Union (AWU). Wages differ between employers and fields of employment. The average hourly rate for a DT Assistant is $13, and for a Diversional Therapist with a Diploma level qualification average hourly rate starts at $17 in the private sector and $19 in public (gov).
The Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council (DTAANC) is the peak body representing all State Diversional Therapy Associations. The Diversional Therapy Association of Queensland and other States each have two representatives who form the National Council body. The National Council has instigated the creation of an Accreditation Body to oversee applications by Training and Education Providers seeking to have other courses accredited as awards leading to a recognized DT qualification.
