What Is Diversional Therapy?

and design leisure programmes, which incorporate the client’s negotiated goals, promote independence, access to the wider community, integration and freedom of choice.
Leisure programmes may include activities that are interesting, fun, educational, stimulating and reflect cultural and spiritual needs. Some group activities may be: games, quizzes, outings, entertainment, exercise, gym, sports, cultural celebrations, social gatherings and creative pursuits like pottery, cooking, dance, drama and gardening. Individual activities often incorporate art, music, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, pets and other specialized areas. All activities include development of leisure interests, both past and present and provide opportunity to explore new challenges.
Diversional Therapists responsibilities may include: contributing to the quality systems of an organisation, management and development of volunteer programmes and professional resources.
